February 2025

Dear APSE Missouri Members,

As we begin the year, I want to take a moment to thank each of you for your dedication to advancing employment for people with disabilities. Our mission has always been about empowering individuals through employment opportunities and ensuring that all have the chance to succeed in the workplace. But as we know, there is still much work to do.

One of our core values here at APSE Missouri is a deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in every aspect of our work. This means that we will never stop fighting for the fair treatment and representation of people with disabilities across all sectors. We stand firm in our belief that every individual, regardless of background or ability, deserves an equal opportunity to thrive in meaningful employment. Our work is not just about opening doors; it’s about making sure those doors are accessible, welcoming and fair to all.

Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that our Employment University is hitting the road in March! This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with industry experts, gain new insights and connect with other professionals in the field. Whether you’re new to employment services or a seasoned veteran, this program is designed to elevate your skills and expand your knowledge. Visit our website or our social media pages to find more information and links to register!

Thank you for your continued support, passion and determination to help make a lasting impact. Together, we will continue to create more inclusive workplaces and empower individuals to reach their full potential.

Sincerely,

Amanda Line

About Disability Rights Legislative Day

Disability Rights Legislative Day: February 26, 2025

Free for everyone to attend, in-person or virtually!

For nearly 20 years, disability advocates from around Missouri have traveled to the State Capitol to participate in Disability Rights Legislative Day and have their voices heard. Last year, we were able to bring Missourians the option of participating virtually and we are please to be able to offer this opportunity in 2025.

The event will be held in person and virtually so people with disabilities, family members, and others can participate regardless of where they live in the state. The more people that participate, the more we can advocate for what's important to us and show the legislature that "WE ARE HERE"

Disability Rights Legislative Day will be held from 10:00am to 4:00pm on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. A rally will take place from 11:15am-12pm and will feature an impressive lineup of speakers, including powerful disability advocates. After the rally, from 12pm to 4pm, in-person participants can meet with their legislators and explore the Capitol.

We will feature rally speakers focused on issues including Transportation, Employment and the Caregiver Crisis. During the rally, legislators and advocates will cover these topics. When you meet with your legislators, you can talk about these topics or any other issues that impact your life each and every day.

In-Person Participants can expect:

  • A rally with self-advocates expressing their support and highlighting important disability issues
  • Time in the afternoon from 12pm-4 pm to set up appointments with your legislator. This will need to be done on your own or with a group!

  • Training and Resources to help you tell your story and advocate about what matters most to you leading up to and following the event

Virtual Participants can expect:

  • High-quality streaming of the rally
  • Training and Resources on how to interact with your legislator in your home district
  • After-event resources to continue engaging with elected officials
